Indian traditions

Indians are losing touch with our glorious past. we have forgotten our traditions, and ho allowing western culture to run  over our values, knowledge systems and ways of life.  This is the common complaint.  I think this is more true.   there are good things in western culture which can be followed.  But then there is no need to neglect our tradition and values.  Westerners still hold their tradition and value.  May be the lack of faith by the younger generation or the failure of older generation to infuse the same in their youngsters.  But the silver lining is that still there are a percentage of youngsters who follow the traditions and hold the value of Indian system.  So much, so far, so happy.

AMERICA

Presently I am in USA visiting my son.   This is my first visit.   Impressed with the country.   Lot of good things to see and adopt.   Travelled to Washington, Pittsburg, Nayagara falls, New York.   Covered about 1500 miles in car.   Amazing road infrastructure.   Invested hugely in laying roads and their maintenance is more amazing.   There is not a single road which is bad and require immediate attention.   No pot holes. Went through villages in-between.   These roads are equivalent to High ways, of course, with limited lanes. Cross roads are through bridges throughout.   There is always a entry and exit road at each bridge point.   All the exits lead to a rest   area, which is mostly having a very decent restaurant with good building. The road signs are fantastic.   Throughout, the board pattern and   their way of exhibition is the same.   At all intersections, there are signals including roads of villages. BP oil spill stopped.  Compare with Bhopal disaster.  Read an article in the news paper.  The author of the article questioned as to why there is no action for getting the proper compensation, clearing the factory in Bhopal.  As correctly pointed out in this article, the exact damage to the environment, loss of business to the people near the sea is yet to be assessed in the oil spill.  There is no loss of life reported.  But the US Govt. made BP to commit $20 billions.  Compare it with Bhopal Tragedy.  Loss of life huge, after effects still continue to haunt the survivors, the factory still stands as a testimony to the tragedy.  But the compensation got was peanuts that too after so many years.  Who is to be blamed? <a href="http://s13.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=s13svas1949" target="_top"> <img src="http://s13.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s13svas1949" alt="Site Meter" border="0"/
