Indian traditions

Indians are losing touch with our glorious past. we have forgotten our traditions, and ho allowing western culture to run  over our values, knowledge systems and ways of life.  This is the common complaint.  I think this is more true.   there are good things in western culture which can be followed.  But then there is no need to neglect our tradition and values.  Westerners still hold their tradition and value.  May be the lack of faith by the younger generation or the failure of older generation to infuse the same in their youngsters.  But the silver lining is that still there are a percentage of youngsters who follow the traditions and hold the value of Indian system.  So much, so far, so happy. environment

Just I read a news item - It is on Amazon forests destruction - Once a huge dense rain forest believed to be barely habitable, is today has five cities with population of over 3,00,000.  Large malls are coming up in these cities.  If this giant forest can be destroyed, who will save relatively smaller forests around the world?

mother

One more  Mother's day (western culture) passed.  Many are happy that they gave present and greeting cards to their mother who will be remembered on next Mother's day. " Mother" a wonderful creature of God to mankind.  She is the only person who bringup the child for what is he/she. She does everything for the well being of her children even at their old age,if the mother lives till that time.  She is the only believer of what her child says and always has some thing to give her chidlren.  There is no need for a special day as the Mother has to be treated well throughout one's life. Make her feel that she is cared and that is what is required of a son/daughter.

Oil spill of Gulf of Mexico - another disaster.  Yet to cap the hole which they say may take months.  till then, the oil continues to ooze into the sea.  Why we make the clean sea into dirty by all means, plastics, oil, ship wrecks, sewerage etc.  Our next generation will get no rain or rain of all these items.

I read an article on Feel good plastic.  The first lines are "a thousand miles off the coast of California floats the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a mass of plastic trash whose exact size is unknown but some experts say is bigger than Texas.  This article speaks about a company making plastic out of plants.  They are biodegradable and to start with they make pens. But then imagine the vastness of this garbage problem. Individuals need to start fighting against this. Start using the same bag while shopping.  Refuse to receive your purchases in plastic bags from the shops. A good beginning by a company. Why not by individual? Think.
