Saw a news item that green house gas emissions by cows during digestion is more than the emissions by car. Surprising is it not? Really are there that much of cows compared to the number of cars the world has today for such occusations? who is to answer?

    There are a few billion cattle in the world & India has the largest cattle population. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cows#Population

    Thanks. May be cows are larger in population than the cars. But then the messing of environment by cars is much more by their gas emition and pollution after discarding them by users.

Indians are losing touch with our glorious past. we have forgotten our traditions, and ho allowing western culture to run  over our values, knowledge systems and ways of life.  This is the common complaint.  I think this is more true.   there are good things in western culture which can be followed.  But then there is no need to neglect our tradition and values.  Westerners still hold their tradition and value.  May be the lack of faith by the younger generation or the failure of older generation to infuse the same in their youngsters.  But the silver lining is that still there are a percentage of youngsters who follow the traditions and hold the value of Indian system.  So much, so far, so happy. BP oil spill stopped.  Compare with Bhopal disaster.  Read an article in the news paper.  The author of the article questioned as to why there is no action for getting the proper compensation, clearing the factory in Bhopal.  As correctly pointed out in this article, the exact damage to the environment, loss of business to the people near the sea is yet to be assessed in the oil spill.  There is no loss of life reported.  But the US Govt. made BP to commit $20 billions.  Compare it with Bhopal Tragedy.  Loss of life huge, after effects still continue to haunt the survivors, the factory still stands as a testimony to the tragedy.  But the compensation got was peanuts that too after so many years.  Who is to be blamed? <a href="http://s13.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=s13svas1949" target="_top"> <img src="http://s13.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s13svas1949" alt="Site Meter" border="0"/...
